Beach reclamation in Caye Caulker underway

Since early this year, the announcement was made that Caye Caulker would be having yet another beach reclamation after one that was done 12 years ago.  Here is a report from Maria Novelo of Love TV/News:

  2. wow…too bad all beach dredgeing…on the cayes, directly destroys the coral reef…..
    gatta like greed…
    ”sustaijnable developement”…absolutely no regaurd for the ecology.
    the silt barriors….reduces silt…..yes….by only about 15%….[as this video clearly shows]….disgracefull
    when will mankind learn……?
    belize has earth movers/loaders….belize has barges and tug boats…and belize has main-”LAND”…..[might it not be a better win-win….to bring that ”LAND” out to the caye..?]
    a project to ‘enhance’ the beach for the tourists…. should not ‘risk ‘the coral reef….which brings those tourists…!!!
